It was a Hell of a January, rather literally. I’ve been organizing and strengthening both my online and in person communities, and preparing for the onslaught ahead. I encourage you to look at the resources I have below and helping us fight the tide. Writing wise, I’m over 50K words into my new project, and enjoying writing my queerest, weirdest, horniest work yet. Keep an eye out in March for the newsletter-exclusive announcement.
We Bite Back, the queer horror anthology hit shelves and is available in black and white and full color, in digital, paperback, and hardcover! I look forward to you all reading the amazing essays, fiction, and poetry in this collection—including my folk horror short, “The Curse of Seewiif Strand.” All proceeds of this great project are going toward the Human Rights Campaign.
I’ve also been catching up on reading and reviews lately, and you might have noticed I’m sharing some other pieces. In an effort to connect more with you here, and off of social media, I’m going to be publishing new and old reviews, essays, and interviews every month. If you’ve been around for a while these will be a great reminder, but many of you are new and I’m looking forward to sharing more with you in the coming months. I probably won’t send these out as emails, but publish them on my Substack, and include links in these monthly updates.
Speaking of social media: I have completely withdrawn from Facebook, and am stepping back a bit from Instagram. You may have noticed everything, aside from the most recent posts, is gone. I’ll still post occasionally, but it will mostly be some old nature and travel shots and book updates. You will be able to find me quite active on Substack’s Notes, Bluesky and Pinksky, the IG dupe. Here are links to all of those.
MUTUAL AID
We need support for our immigrant, queer, and POC friends now more than ever. I am fully in the mode of “plan for the worst, hope for the best.” In addition to supporting the organizations below, I am working locally by growing food for our shelter kitchens, joining the Quaker Friends, and helping with asylum. Please join me.
BOOKSHELF
Here is where you’ll be able to find my monthly essays and reviews, as well as the usual sales and freebies! Mid January, I shared my review for Providence Girls by Morgan Dante and earlier this month I posted my essay “You Can’t Miss The Library.”
For this month’s sales I have:
As always, happy reading and take good care.
